Pure drinking water project inaugurated in 32 hill hamlets of Alikadam

A pure drinking water supply project has been inaugurated in 32 remote hill hamlets, including Thinkupara in Alikadam upazila of Bandarban, to resolve long-standing water crises. Last Thursday, Brigadier General Md. Shamsul Alam, ndc, psc, Commander of the 34 Engineer Construction Brigade, inaugurated the project at an event held in Thinkupara. The project was implemented through the 17 Engineer Construction Battalion of the Bangladesh Army.

Under the project, water is brought from a hill stream through a 9.5-kilometer-long pipeline and distributed to residents of 32 remote hill hamlets, including Thinkupara, using 8 outlets. This initiative is expected to meet daily water demands and save time and labor in collecting water. The chief guest stated that this effort will play a positive role in health protection, reducing the risk of waterborne diseases, and improving the living standards of the hill population.

Bishwa Tripura, the Karbari of Thinkupara in the 10-kilo area, shared that villagers previously had to struggle to drink water from hill streams, which would dry up during the dry season. He expressed his gratitude to the Bangladesh Army for arranging pure drinking water through a pipeline in the village.
