Local residents blocked railway and roads in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, protesting the cancellation of the newly formed Barishal union and the proposal to form a new upazila. Train services on Dhaka-Chattogram, Dhaka-Sylhet, and Chattogram-Mymensingh routes remained suspended for about four and a half hours, while traffic on the Akhaura-Agartala route was also halted. Later, the blockade was lifted around 11:30 AM following assurances from representatives sent by the Member of Parliament for Brahmanbaria-3.
